Birds of the Mono Lake Basin [video]
December 1, 2014Join photographer Marie Read on a journey exploring the birdlife of Mono Lake and its surrounding basin in California’s Eastern Sierra. Mono Lake is a spectacular birding hotspot, famous for bizarre tufa towers and highly saline and alkaline water. Enjoy Read’s stories from the field and learn how she obtained some of the behavior and action shots in her newly released book “Sierra Wings: Birds of the Mono Lake Basin.”
The talk took place on November 17, 2014. It was part of the Cornell Lab’s long-running Monday Night Seminar series, a tradition established decades ago by Lab founder Dr. Arthur Allen. If you enjoyed this seminar, check this page for our list of future speakers—we’ll note which upcoming talks will be livestreamed—or come visit us in person!
