Festival de l’Oiseau et de la Nature [Abbeville Bird and Nature Festival]
April 20, 2024 @ 8:00 am – April 28, 2024 @ 5:00 pm
The Festival was created in 1991 to promote the diversity of birds in the Baie de Somme (now ranked among the most beautiful bays in the world, 10th “Grand site de France” and “Regional natural park”) and the area’s environmental richness.
Over its 30 years, the festival has become an unmissable event in the Baie de Somme. Every year in the spring, the best time for birdwatching, the Festival offers 9 days of immersion in nature for the whole family.
Animal film festival in its infancy, it quickly became THE meeting place for nature outings, and the largest nature festival in France. In addition to photography and animal art exhibitions, screening of documentaries of an environmental nature, hands-on and educational activities for young and older children, the festival offers more than 400 guided nature outings—on horseback, foot, kayak/canoe/boat, bicycle, etc.
Open to professionals and amateurs, photo and film competitions call for entries in September 2023. Birds are the theme for the photo contest, and films focus on birds, wildlife, and environment from all over the world. The best works are shortlisted for outdoor and indoor exhibitions as well as public screenings during the April festival in several towns of the Bay of Somme area. Many artists are present at the various exhibitions. Photographers, painters, and sculptors, both professional and amateur, reveal the beauty and fragility of biodiversity through their works. Visit our website for more information as it becomes available.
We aim to make a connection between birds, wildlife, and people and are working with local organizations.
