Carolyn Jensen Chadwick, Radio Expeditions Creator
August 18, 2010It’s with great sadness that we have learned of the death of Carolyn Jensen Chadwick from cancer. Carolyn created the long-running NPR/National Geographic Radio Expeditions show and was a close collaborator with staff at the Cornell Lab and our Macaulay Library.
The Cornell Lab’s director, John Fitzpatrick, remembers her as “a natural song in perfect, gentle harmony. She was spirited and generous, and her appreciation for the richness of sounds in nature was contagious. The Cornell Lab of Ornithology has lost one of our most treasured friends and ambassadors.”
We’ve posted a tribute to Carolyn on our website. Please go there to read remembrances from our staff, hear an excerpt from the very first Radio Expeditions broadcast, in 1992, and listen to some of the marvelous sounds she helped gather and which are being archived in the Macaulay Library. Our sympathies go out to her friends and family.
